Valentine's Day for me was spent reorienting with what my mom's generation enjoyed as pop music--Motown that is. We caught the concert at the Big Dome, and not surprisingly, most of the people in line were also my mom's age. 60's music enjoyed by the Baby Boomers, and even those born before those years. As I tried desperately to remember some semblance of a familiar tune, I found myself dancing to the beat of the back-up "chu-wari-wup" dancers. "My Girl" was my favorite of them all (it was the only song I knew! Thanks to the movie!) Ü
I admit, the Supremes, the Temptations, and the Miracles, were not the original group, but they had still the spirit and the heart to commemorate those wonderful songs that were truly reflections of the good ol times many decades ago. And as I look around at the daddies and mommies enjoying their Valentine dates and lip-synching with those popular jukebox songs, I smile fondly at them. At one moment, I wish I was also born in that era... oh well, wishful thinking Ü
